Setting the pace for innovation, the company’s founder, Navy Veteran and entrepreneur Steve Monte saw a need for an anti-odor/antimicrobial base-layer clothing line with unparallel comfort in today's 'fashion' market. With creating the brand he had three primary stipulations:

• First, it had to be a luxurious apparel line without outrageous prices.
• Second, the company had to create its own exclusive fabric and cuts for the line (absolutely no re-labeling or buying "apparel blanks" from the big manufactures).
• Thirdly and probably the biggest challenge of all, it had to be completely grown and made in the U.S.A, no exceptions.

With the help from his wife Angela, they began their incredible journey to create the exclusive clothing line under the unique name of Pooghe.

An alumnus of the accredited Mount Mary College in Fashion & Merchandising, Steve's wife Angela is no stranger to the fashion industry. Having positions as a merchandise analyst and buyer within major retailers such as Target, Kohl's and Sak's Inc. she knew her husband had a significant challenge, especially when it came to an apparel line being made in America. None-the-less she was more than happy to bring her high level of experience to the table and as Steve states; "even though this endeavor brought an incredible amount of sacrifice to our family, my wife was exceptionally supportive and instrumental every step of the way. I never could have done it without her, period." Knowing her husband better than anyone she was interviewed by INFO Magazine about the man behind the Pooghe idea:

(Q) INFO Magazine: If you could pick out two qualities about your husband Steve, what would they be?

(A) Angela: "Well if it's only two, I would have to say what I admire most about my husband is his incurable optimism and non-stop passion to succeed in everything he does. He never takes no for an answer and sincerely puts all of his energy into solving a problem."

Angie goes on describing her husband: "Steve is one of those guys that is obsessed with comfort from what he wears to bedding to the furniture he sits on. Not to mention he's quite the clean freak; just say the word bacteria and you see him cringe. [laughing] So I guess it wasn't a surprise to me when he said he wanted to do this. I knew the mountain of challenges he was going to face and to say the very least, it certainly wasn't going to be easy. However, Steve is an incredibly well rounded, educated man with sensational dedication that's simply intoxicating. I love the fact that he's fearless when confronted with monumental challenges so I didn't even try to talk him out of it. He supports me in every way and I do the same for him. Besides, he's first and foremost my best friend, a loving husband and father and look at all the super comfy free clothes I'm going to get...bonus!"[laughing]

It's taken Pooghe Clothing Company of America three years of numerous hurtles, research, product development and prototyping. Finally in 2009, Steve and Angela were able to bring their much anticipated apparel line to market under that unique name POOGHE. A clothing brand that truly possesses the identifiable feature of unparallel comfort with the benefits of eliminating that 'sometimes embarrassing little thing' called body odor. A line with a unique niche in the fashion apparel industry that when samples were given to some of the respected opinion leaders in fashion media has been embraced as "a must have item that is nothing less than delicious".
